Exams
There are three examinations required to complete training, all hosted by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
- Part 1 FRCOphth – clinical optics and clinically relevant basic science. This exam is a requirement to progress beyond ST2.
- Refraction Certificate – required to progress beyond ST3
- Part 2 FRCOphth – clinical theory and practical assessment. This is split into a written part and clinical part. This exam is a requirement for CCT (completion of training). However, it is recommended that this is passed by the end of ST6 so that your final subspecialty year can be utilised fully.
