This page is for consultants and SAS doctors who act as named clinical supervisors to doctors in training. It’s for you to help you to develop your skills as an educator as you build on the foundations you have laid in supervising day to day clinical development of your juniors. It’s your choice how much personal development to do and when, depending on whether you are happy doing enough to remain up to date in your named CS role, or whether you want to progress your educational journey to the next level of educational supervisor.
This page gives advice on what the CS role entails, and what you need to do to complete your CS section of your appraisal. There is specific advice for new CSs, as well as those more established in the role. It is good practice to seek feedback in your role as well, and the educator MSF tool is free and easy to use.
