Key details for all fellowships
– Funding is for 1 year and fellowships must start between 1/8/26 and 31/3/27 inclusive (Autumn starts are preferable and may be essential if applying for the Leadership & Education fellowship programme).
– Weekly time commitment should ensure the aims of the fellowship are achievable and consider individual circumstances as needed.
– Trusts and fellows must engage in feedback requests from KSS Deanery during and on completion of the fellowship.
– Fellowships must be distinct projects which deliver added value, not just business as usual.
We will not consider applications associated with undergraduate, primary care or foundation as part of this offer.
A note to prospective Fellows
Our fellowships are generally recruited to and managed by our Hospital Trusts, via the Medical Education Manager. If you are interested in undertaking a fellowship please speak with your postgraduate medical education team.
Our Fellowships
Leadership & Education fellowships programme with PGCert
We will provide a package of funding to Trusts to cover the fellow’s basic salary (no on-costs) at 0.6WTE, a PGCert in Healthcare Leadership & Commissioning and a leadership mentoring programme. Information on the BSMS Leadership & Education fellowship programme can be found here or you can contact Sam Greenhouse (s.greenhouse@bsms.ac.uk) for an informal conversation. All applications for the programme need to be made through our application form at the top of this page.
New & Extended KSS Trust-led fellowships – focused on the NHS 10 Point Plan’s 3 shifts
When applying for a new fellowship or if you wish to extend a current fellowship for a further year, you will need to demonstrate that you are working towards at least one of the 3 shifts from the NHS 10 point plan that are detailed below. Note, if applying to extend a fellowship a NEW FELLOW must be recruited for the new year.
The 3 shifts:
From Analogue to Digital: More care will be delivered in the community, closer to where people live, reducing the need for hospital visits.
From Sickness to Prevention: The focus will shift from treating illness to preventing it in the first place. This involves reaching people earlier and making the healthy choice the easy choice.
From from hospital to community: More care will be available on people’s doorsteps and in their homes.
KSS internal deanery fellows (general & digital)
We are looking to recruit 2 fellows to work for the Deanery again this year. One will undertake a general broad spectrum of work with us, linking closely with our Deans and senior management team. The other will have a focus on the digital world and how we use technology better. If you have someone in your Trust who may be interested in this role please do get in touch. Payments will be pro-rata based on basic salary (no on-costs) and time given to the fellowship can be 2-5 days depending on individual circumstances. Contact england.ksspgme.se@nhs.net with the subject header “FAO Helen – deanery fellow interest”. You do not need to complete a fellowship application form.
Note: whilst we expect to be able to progress all fellowships approved, we reserve the right to withdraw offers in the unlikely event that the budget changes due to circumstances beyond our control. A named fellow must have been recruited prior to the post starting for funding to be released.
